We anticipate that there will be five positions to fill on the ALC’s Executive Committee to commence following the AGM in November 2026.
The ALC’s work, which has expanded greatly over recent years, falls to the small number of people on the Executive Committee and our Administrator. For the Association to prosper it needs new volunteers committed to further the interests of those the Association serves.
The Executive Committee meets at least six times a year although most work takes place outside of those meetings. Meetings usually take place on a hybrid basis, with in-person attendance in London but committee members routinely attending remotely. Ordinary committee members are usually expected to lead in a particular field and/or to chair a sub-committee. A role on the Executive Committee can be challenging, stimulating and immensely rewarding. Having a set of able and committed candidates is crucial to the success of the Association, and involvement in the leadership of the Association offers an opportunity to positively contribute to the development of the family justice system.

Each candidate is permitted to provide a brief personal profile of not more than 200 words and a short statement of support of not more than 100 words by another full ALC member. That profile and statement of support (including the name of the supporting member) will be placed on the online voting platform for review by ALC members so that they can review the candidates’ applications to inform their votes. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that any member providing a statement in support is aware that it will be provided to members of the Association for review.
All applications must be submitted to the Association by email at [email protected] no later than 5pm on 8 October 2026.
Applications will then be uploaded to our voting platform (absent extenuating circumstances we expect to use Choice.Org), and voting links will be sent out to the ALC’s members to allow them to review the applications (including profiles and supporting statements) and to vote. Candidates will be informed in advance of the AGM as to whether they have been successful, and the outcome of the election will be announced at the AGM on 19 November 2026. Once elected, terms for new Executive Committee members are three years from the date of the AGM at which they take office.
